I was having a chocolate craving. There was no chocolate in the house.
We do have coca powder, though.
I learned a while back that chocolate at its most basic form only needs coca powder, sugar, dairy, and a bonding agent to hold it all together.
Usually, I just use butter, which works fantastically as both dairy and a bonding agent but is also not particularly healthy or tasty.
So I tried vanilla yogurt. Just a few scoops. It was that cheap Wal Mart brand yogurt I typically hate. Whatever. I was getting my chocolate fix.
Some coca powder and a bit of cane sugar was lumped onto the yogurt. I don't remember how much because I never measure exactly when I cook.
I mixed it in the bowl-it looked like dough at first.
I kept stirring and it turned into something just like store-bought pudding.
I tasted it. The consistency was the same, but less sweet, less fat, and more chocolate. It was too tangy, though. Probably more a symptom of the cheap, artificially flavored yogurt than anything.
I haven't had those pudding cups since I was a young child.
It was delicious. It was chocolate.
Now to sneak some vanilla greek yogurt into the house.
